Arcana: Ganesh

Arcana Ganesh

A large, joyous snoutful of coconut cake is snugly wrapped in honey, vanilla, Indonesian clove, green coconut, and a warm blend of spices.

I’ve been wanting to try this particular scent since I got into indie perfume; it sounds like the perfect gourmand for me as the notes suggest that its not overly sweet. Unfortunatly, this perfume has been out of stock for months and no on knows when it will return, if ever. I was very lucky to be able to find a decant of it in a destash list. As for the name, this fragrance is named after Ganesh, a very important and popular Hindu deity. This scent is currently out of stock.

In the bottle: So fragrant! It’s all honey, cloves and spices with a touch of coconut.

On the skin: It’s basically the same as it is in the vial, just with stronger clove, but the clove is like chai clove so I love it. There’s a strong warmth to this as well. You would think it would be gourmand based on the notes, but its not; it smells like potpourri, but in the best way possible, if that makes sense. Just spicy and warm and sweet and golden. It’s not as coconut-y as I expected, but I really like it.

The scent’s divine namesake, the Hindu god Ganesh.

Tl;DR: Strong chai clove with honey, spices, and a touch of coconut. Warm and delicious. 5/5.

BPAL Snake Skin

A sinous, leather variant of BPALs Snake Oil

Despite being a big fan of BPAL’s perfumes, I have never actually tried their famous Snake Oil. Additionally, I have mentioned several times here that I’m a big fan of leather as well. So when I saw a half bottle being sold of a scent that combines Snake Oil with leather, I knew I had to try it. Snake Skin was a Lupercalia scent, so it is no longer available, but there is a chance that it might come back due to it’s popularity.

In the bottle: L E A T H E R. It reminds me of a brand new leather jacket, one that has been broken in yet. I’m not getting any spiciness yet.

On the skin: While leather is still the most prominent note in this, the Snake Oil really comes out of the woodwork. It’s spicy and sweet, almost too sweet for my liking. I can see why people go crazy over Snake Oil, and I can see how it would get better with age. For some reason, this scent reminds me of the American Southwest; like, I could a imagine a character from Westworld smelling like this. It’s definitely a sexy scent, I’m just not sure if it’s “me”.

TL;DR: Spicy, sweet leather. Will probably age beautifully. 3.5/5.

BPAL Lady Una

Honey musk, green tea leaf, blackberry leaf, vanilla bean, and fae spices.

Thanks to some extreme generosity, I was gifted this half bottle for free with another purchase. I was very excited to receive it because the notes sound lovely and it is not a fragrance I would have picked out myself. You can buy this on BPAL’s website for $26 US.

In the bottle: I’m getting a lot of green tea and blackberry. It’s very foresty, but not woodsy if that makes any sense. It’s sweet, but light.

On the skin: HONEY. The honey musk comes in with a punch and its glorious. It adds this lush sensuality to the fruit and tea elements. The vanilla rounds it all out and gives it a beautiful sweetness. This is probably what Galadriel smells like and I’m all about it.

TL;DR: Rich honey musk with vanilla and soft fruit tea. Smells like a Tolkien elf. 7/5.
