Poesie Strange Sisterhood
Wild gathered berries, sweet violet blooms, a union of three vanillas, a creamy hint of white coconut flesh
I’m always a sucker for coconut scents, but most tend to lean tropical. This one doesn’t sound summery or tropical at all, which really piqued my curiosity.
In the bottle: This is really interesting. I’m detecting a sweet, powdery violet note with some blackberries and a touch of coconut. There’s a cold quality about it that makes it slightly creepy, but in a good way.
On the skin: Darn it! The berries are now quite artificial, and the vanilla is going plastic-y. I still get the powderiness from the violet. I can see why people like this scent, but my skin chemistry just doesn’t like it at all. It’s gonna be a “no” from me.
TL;DR: Plastic vanilla and artificial berries. I blame my skin chemistry. Destash. 2/5.
Pale golden musk, honeycomb, amber, parma violet, hawthorne bark, aspen leaf, forest lily, life everlasting, white moss, and a hint of wild berry.
I was raised playing Dungeons and Dragons, and all things Tolkien are very close to my heart. Of all the scents in BPAL’s RPG collection, I’ve been wanting to try this one the most; I love the lore of elves, and the scent sounds so foresty and ethereal. You can buy it on the BPAL website for $17.50 for a full size or $4 for an imp.
In the bottle: Strong woodsy florals. These aren’t your grandma’s florals; they’re very fresh and light and foresty. These are the kinds of the florals that I enjoy, but have a hard time finding.
On the skin: The wildflower florals are still there, but the strength has subsided quite a bit. The base is the musk and some woodsy elements (hawthorne bark?), and I’m getting lots of violet, moss, and berry. It’s very subtly sweet. Once it dries down, the honeycomb blossoms on the skin. It’s a light, ethereal scent that matches the name really well. The florals are very natural and almost refreshing alongside the woodsy elements. I feel like this is a less sweet version of Lady Una. I like it!
TL;DR: Musky woods with light, subtly sweet florals. Very elven. 4/5.
Tart sangria infused with ripe summer fruits (white peach, nectarine, berries, citrus), dark vanilla, wild vines, rose absolute.
I generally gravitate towards dark, sexy, autumn and winter scents with vanilla, musk and smoke. Basically, I like to smell like an insanely attractive demon on a daily basis. Because of that, I have very few perfumes that would be considered summery; Theda seemed like a good option to try since it sounded sunny and bright without being too floral. It is no longer available from Sixteen92 and I purchased a decant off of a redditor.
In the bottle: I’m gagging. The aroma of the alcohol is so horrifically strong that it could peel paint off the walls. Literally all I’m getting is astringent alcohol.
On the skin: After wearing it for about an hour, the alcohol has toned down a little bit, but it’s still very sharp and acidic because of the citrus. I barely smell any fruit or any of the florals and it’s beginning to give me a headache. Hopefully letting this one age will improve it because I currently hate it. This was a pretty popular scent too, so I’m sad it didn’t work on me.
TL;DR: Smells like someone spilled a whole bottle of citrus vodka onto my arm. HELL NO/5.
